the female form

I have long found that the female form is amazingly beautiful, in all its variety. I am humbled by the fact that my man has a deep passion for both the visual and tactile experience of my body. As seems fairly common among men, he also appreciates the visual experience of the amazing variety of other female forms. We sometimes view certain tumblr's together and I am now understanding that his appreciation of these types of images doesn't diminish his passion for me. I am told that this interest, fascination, passion, obsession... with the female form accompanies men through a good part of their lives. I expect that, like everything, it must have had a time that marked its beginning. As a mother of growing boys though, I am not at all ready for that time to be now.

  4. Yes, but as their mom you have it within your power to teach them not only that it's okay to appreciate the female form... but that women of all shapes and sizes (whether appealing to their eyes or not) deserve respect. We are, after all, the ones who have to bear the pain of bringing them into this world. :)

  5. Spirited,
Respect I think we have covered, achieving the correct flavor of appreciation in the midst of early teen hormones and curiosity is proving slippery.

  7. Raising growing boys may be the most challenging task you will ever do. Good luck in teaching them to respect females as well as appreciating them.

  8. FD,
Thank you for the wishes of luck. Like all parents, we will do our best.

  9. GG, I wish you good fortune with your children, and would offer this thought. They could be gay. Then you'd still have the worries and concerns about STDs and broken hearts and "Oh why did he fall for THAT ONE that I can't stand"?, but you'd also get to wonder if they were being bullied, beaten, derided by their teachers and peers, and what would happen in adulthood. All that is assuming they accepted themselves without too much trouble in the first place. Or they could be bi. ALl the problems of gay AND the fear of an accidental pregnancy.

See? Horny teenage boys aren't so big a deal after all, are they? ;)

  10. MC,
I appreciate the perspective. I do know it's normal and not even bad, I was just taken by surprise.
